How to Start a Professional Website

Creating your own website is not that expensive or difficult. You just need to have a proper guidelines and put some effort to do it.

OK let’s start.

The first step when creating a website is to scratch or write a mind map base on what you want to do. This will make you understand and have a rough idea on what content should be in your website.

The second step is to get a Domain name, so that people can know your name or your brand name and visit the website again. Domain is not expensive especially for .COM. You can get around RM50/year.

The third step is to get a hosting that support WordPress. Why WordPress? Because it is the most popular Content Management System (CMS) that allow you to create a website without need to study the coding. WordPress also Search Engine Friendly, meaning it will have better ranking by Google and easier to be listed there.

If you do not know how to install WordPress, you can search on Google since it is an Open Source and many people share the guidelines. Or you can ask the web hosting company to install it to you. Below is some recommendation:-

WebServer SOHO hosting (Domain (.com) + hosting + WordPress installation = RM72.08 ) https://www.webserver.com.my/malaysia-cheap-hosting-free-domain/

Once you already have Domain which pointed to the Hosting and have a WordPress installed in it, you can now start designing and customising your website. WordPress itself already have allot of Free themes. But if you have some budget, I would suggest you to buy some Premium themes with great support at ThemeForest.

Once your website is ready, the next step is to make some marketing. People would not know about your website until you let them know. You can use social media like Facebook, Twitter and Linkedin. Also you can use Google Adwords to make your website to be listed at first page on top which obviously will increase your website traffic and visitors.

Last but not least, you need to maintain your website. Make sure the website content is correct and the WordPress is up-to-date.

If you would like to focus on your business, you can hire a web designer to do all this for you. Please email to soffian@kerjaya.org if you need some good recommendation of web designer.

That’s all, see you in next update.
